I'm taking a break from the calendar pages for a day, because I wanted to do a "commercial" for my Stampin' Up! business.
SU! has developed a pilot training program for Supervisors and Senior Supervisors to help us develop skills to build our businesses. Two of the exercises involved are writing your Stampin' Story about how and why you came to be a demonstrator and then sharing it with people and writing a "My Why" page about why you joined this training program.
Here is "My Why" page. I, of course, made it using My Digital Studio software! :-) I have printed this and have it hanging above my desk:
My Stampin' Story:
Up until 2002, I had never paper crafted or rubber stamped. After all, I was a cross-stitcher! I stitched months and months on an elegant angel, only to give it away. I was obsessed with stitching and thought I would do this forever, or until I couldn’t see to thread the needle.
Late during the summer of 2002, my son met his future wife, and one day she asked if I had ever stamped. I, of course, said no…I’m a stitcher. She asked if I wanted to come to a Stampin’ Up! Party put on by her aunt. I really wasn’t interested, surely didn't need another hobby, but as a soon to be mother in law, I wanted to get off on the right foot, so I said sure!
I was amazed at what could be done with paper and ink! I think we did some embossing, then bleached out a snowman….I was intrigued. Of course, I booked a party, and again was amazed at the projects we made. How fun was this?
In the meantime, my stitching was going untouched, while I started buying stamps and papers at the “M” store. Finally, in March of 2003, I told my soon to be DIL’s aunt that I wanted to sign on, so I could get the discount. I was her first recruit.
For several years, I was my own best customer, buying lots and lots of SU! stuff, inks, papers and stamps. After about 4 years I had several friends who were interested in starting a monthly stamping club, and as we got started I realized I loved doing what I do! Sharing and teaching how to stamp and create. I loved being with friends and family sharing a common interest!
Now, 4 years later, I am about to enter my 7th year as a Demonstrator, and have made so many wonderful friends through my stamping business. I currently have two downline, anxious to increase my team, and have three monthly clubs running. I hold monthly classes, in home parties or workshops…I like to call them parties because they are so much fun!...and provide individual instruction if needed.
In 2009, I was honored to walk the stage at Convention in recognition of my $20,000 in sales for the year. With 3.5 months left to go, doing it again in 2010 does seem possible! My ultimate goal is to grow my downline team so that we can have fun meetings and events and learn and motivate each other to build our businesses. An added side benefit will be that we might earn the SU! Incentive trip some year! In the meantime, I will continue to love what I do, and share what I love.
Are any of you interested in more information about doing what I do? Let me know because now is a great time to sign on....15% discount off the starter kit and an extra free stamp set of your choice...but you only have until March 31st!
Okay, commerical over....if you have read this far, thank you! I will have November pages to show you tomorrow!
