Autumn is here...I think!

I *think* Autumn is almost here.  I know the official day was this last week, but with the crisp mornings recently I feel it coming!  I have to post one more sky watch picture.  This was snapped Thursday morning...isn't it amazing?

I am sitting here waiting on my Sunday Stampers to arrive, so thought I would make a card for a friend who volunteers on the Council at work.  She is having a hard time health-wise, so wanted her to know we were all thinking of her.
This card used the set "French Foliage" from the Holiday Mini, and I used a technique called "One Sheet Wonder" for the focal piece.  This technique has you stamping various images in all directions, in coordinating colors all over a piece of cardstock.  Then you can cut it into whatever size you need for your card.  This is great to make some ahead when you have time, then you can assemble a card pretty quickly when the need arises.

I used Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango for the base of the card, and stamped the little French phrase in Soft Suede, stamping off once each time I inked, all over the Tangerine Tango piece to add interest.  I used More Mustard, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango and  Cajun Craze inks....whatever I thought might be "autumn-y".  I made this really grungy by distressing all the layers using our distressing tool kit and crumpling and fussing with the edges.  Look at the button....did you know we had coordinating thread?

Ha ha!  No...we don't!  I shaved a very thin slice of Tangerine Tango cardstock using the SU! tabletop cutter and threaded it through the button.  Pretty slick if I do say so myself!

I did distress the inside layer also, so it would all flow together, you can see a peek of the inside here.  All in all, I really like how this turned out. I hope it will make my friend feel loved.

I don't think I mentioned here, but DH and I will be on a Caribbean cruise in another week, and I will be offline the whole week!  Yikes!  That means not only no blogging, but no stamping AND no email or Facebook!  Do you think I can survive?  I know....I totally rely on my gadgets way too much, but you know me...I'm all about knowing what is going on!  I'll post more later,  gotta get ready for my Sunday Stampers! Tootle!
